Radiation therapy services at Sunshine

Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre (SHRTC) is a partnership between Western Health and Peter Mac. SHRTC provides radiation therapy services to the people of Western Melbourne

SHRTC radiation oncologists have excellent relationships with the medical oncology and surgical oncology teams at Western Health (Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown), the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital. In conjunction with these organisations, and particularly through our involvement in multidisciplinary meetings, we are able to provide cancer treatment for many patients closer to home.

We are a public health service provider, and no payment is required for Medicare-eligible patients.

Radiation therapy services at Sunshine

Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre has world-class facilities. These facilities cover radiation therapy planning and treatment delivery.

This involves two ultramodern linear accelerators. These treatment machines can deliver external beam radiation therapy. This therapy includes:

  • Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT)

Also, we have a superficial and deep radiation therapy unit. We use this to treat skin/superficial malignancies.

We have a CT scanner on-site for radiation therapy planning. This has four-dimensional and gated radiation therapy planning capabilities.
