Getting to Peter Mac Melbourne
Tram
Three tram lines travel near Peter Mac.
These are tram line 19 (stop number 10) and the 58 and 59 tram lines (stop 14).
Train
The nearest train station is North Melbourne. Flagstaff and Melbourne Central train stations are also close and link with trams to Peter Mac.
Bus

The 401 shuttle bus provides a regular service to and from North Melbourne Station, stopping nearby Peter Mac, before travelling onto The University of Melbourne.

The 402 bus travels from Footscray to East Melbourne via North Melbourne, with stops across the road from Peter Mac.
Getting dropped off at our Melbourne campus
Drop off zones
There is a five minute drop off zone on Grattan Street outside the Royal Melbourne Hospital, patients will need to then walk up Elizabeth Street or Flemington Road to cross to Peter Mac.
There is a five-minute drop-off zone also available on the Elizabeth Street side of the building (turn left from Flemington Road to access this drop zone).
Peter Mac Melbourne carpark drop-off
Access to the Peter Mac carpark (off Flemington Road) is free for drop off for the first 30 minutes.
Taxis and rideshares
There is a taxi rank across the road at the front entrance of The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Please note that access to our building is currently affected by Metro Tunnel construction, with conditions changing regularly.

Melbourne parking
On-site parking
We have 700 parking spaces on Basement levels 3 and 4.
The car park is open from 6am to 8pm daily.
The height limit for vehicles is 2.2 metres.
Discounted car parking
Patients and carers are eligible for discounted parking if:

You hold a relevant concession card (Pensioner Concession, Health Care, Repatriation Health, Department of Veterans’ Affairs Health, Commonwealth Seniors Health).

You are attending Peter Mac for more than three days within a seven day period.

You are approved for a discount by the Peter Mac Social Work department - speak with your treating team, or email

Our staff may ask to see your entry ticket, Peter Mac appointment letter, or concession card.
Street parking around Melbourne campus
There is some street parking around Peter Mac - namely on the North Melbourne side of Flemington Rd.
Most of this parking requires a parking ticket from Monday to Saturday afternoon.
Please check local signs before you park your car.
Wheelchair access
Wheelchairs are available for patients and their carers. You can collect a wheelchair from the carpark lift lobbies. Please return the wheelchair to the carpark lift lobby when you are finished with it.
