Being OK...Being You

A guide for young people who identify as LGBTIQ+ and have cancer

This guide was developed by the Victorian Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Service and young people themselves.

Being OK Being You cover

It talks about:

  • The lived experiences of other young people with cancer who identify as LGBTIQ+
  • Sexuality and gender identity
  • Common challenges that come with a diagnosis with cancer
  • Your rights as a young person and patient
  • Strategies on how to manage and maximise your support networks
  • Information to share with partners and healthcare professionals

Young people were involved in the development of 'Being OK... Being You' at every step of the way. They hope it helps support others who identify as LGBTIQ+ to feel safe, seen and heard.
