Grants and funding

We are both a Hospital and a Medical Research Institute

Our researchers, clinical divisions and health services from our laboratories collaborate with one another and our patients. Together, they translate innovations from the laboratory bench to the patient’s bedside. Clinical questions and insights from patients likewise shape and inform lab work. This results in

  • rich knowledge gain
  • swift implementation
  • and high impact translation to patient outcomes.

These breakthroughs are only possible when our innovative thinkers have the support they need. Grants, commercial partnerships and philanthropic donations all support our cancer research across (basic) laboratory, clinical, translational and health services disciplines. Our research excellence is reflected in our success in securing highly competitive national and international peer-reviewed grants and fellowships.

We thank all who contribute to our research. Without this support our work could not have the impact it does today.

Administration of research funding

Depending on the type of funding, most awards and grants are administered by the Peter Mac Research Grants team through a strong and long-standing affiliation with the Sir Peter MacCallum Department of Oncology at The University of Melbourne (headed by Prof Ricky Johnstone).

Philanthropic (trust and foundation) donations are administered through the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation

Scholarships are administered through Research Education.
