Peter Mac’s in-home treatment and care nursing service Peter Mac @ Home has expanded its daily care hours, with support from the Victorian Government’s Better at Home program.

Peter Mac @ Home employs 32 specialised cancer nurses who travel across Melbourne to deliver compassionate, expert care.

Their days are incredibly varied, meeting Peter Mac patients receiving cancer treatments including chemotherapy and intravenous infusions. The nurses also provide injections, central line management, acute wound management, radiation therapy reaction skin care and drain tube management.

The Victorian Government’s Better at Home program is investing $120.9 million over three years to expand in-home health services to deliver patient-centred, convenient care at home.

“Patients often tell our nurses how helpful it is to receive their care in comfortable and familiar surroundings, in the company of their family or carer” said Nurse Unit Manager Michelyn Treadwell.

“We are proud to be able to make treatment more convenient for our patients. This expansion allows Peter Mac @ Home to make the treatment experience of even more patients just that little bit easier.”

From February 2, Peter Mac @ Home’s new operating hours are 7.00am – 9.30pm daily.

Patients who would like to access the Peter Mac @ Home service should contact their specialist or treating team.
