Seeking comforting and uplifting designs

24 May 2024

New uplifting designs are sought for the bags that families receive following the death of a loved one at Peter Mac.

Our palliative care ward has been using decorated bereavement bags since 2022, when they replaced standard plastic bags.

Ward 1A Nurse Unit Manager Holly Pitt said families often kept these bags, containing items like the patient’s clothes, books and sentimental items, as a lasting memory.

“It is important that families receive these personal items in a way that reflects the care and respect that patients receive throughout their time at Peter Mac,” Ms Pitt says.

“Our community is again invited to submit designs that convey comfort and support to families.”

Ward 1A staff will vote to choose a new selection of designs to appear on these bags.

How to submit your design:

  1. Open this form and fill in your name and email.
  2. Briefly tell us about your design - Name, meaning, inspiration or intention?
  3. Let us know if you’re a Peter Mac patient (or family of patient), staff member or from our wider community.
  4. Upload your design (limit of one) as a PDF, PNG or other standard file format.
  5. You can submit multiple designs.

Submit your designs by close of business on Friday, 7 June 2024.
