Biography
Professor Shelley Dolan has extensive clinical and research leadership experience and a positive record of accomplishment leading major organisational and cultural change in healthcare.
She was appointed Chief Executive of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in 2019.
Professor Dolan was previously CEO and Chief Nurse of the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Kings College Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Europe with five hospital sites and internationally renowned specialist and local services.
Prior to that Professor Dolan held leadership roles at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Europe’s largest comprehensive cancer centre.
Key capabilities include Executive and Non-Executive leadership across national and international bodies, strategy development, delivering excellence in quality and performance, overseeing large capital schemes and innovative research projects that require engagement with a broad range of stakeholders.
Professor Dolan has a PhD in the early diagnosis of sepsis in cancer patients and a master’s degree in cancer nursing. She is a Professor (Enterprise) of the Melbourne School of Health Science at the University of Melbourne.
Professor Dolan has more than 25 years’ experience in Executive and Non-Executive Board roles, with a reputation for building engaged relationships with clinical leaders and CEOs globally. She is Chair of the Western & Central Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service, a Board member of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Alliance, Melbourne Genomics and CRC Participant Director on the Board of Oncology One. In November 2022, the Minister for Health and Aged Care appointed Professor Dolan as a Member of the Cancer Australia Advisory Council.
