Biography
Mr Gerard Powell is a Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, with interests in arthroplasty and musculoskeletal tumour reconstructive surgery.
A graduate of The University of Melbourne,Mr Powellcompleted orthopaedic training in Melbourne in 1995 before taking up an appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He spent 1996 until late 1998 undertaking post-graduate fellowships in adult reconstructive surgery and orthopaedic oncology in London (Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital), Salzburg, Vienna (Algemeines KrankenHaus), Bologna (Istituti Ortopedico Rizzoli) and Gainesville (University of Florida). Since returning to Melbourne in 1998, he has been a member of the Victorian Sarcoma Group, the Australian Arthroplasty Society and the International Society of Limb Salvage Surgery.
