Dr Laura Forrest

Psychosocial research with families who have inherited diseases

Biography

Dr Laura Forrest is a postdoctoral fellow and the lead researcher in the Psychosocial Cancer Genetics Research Group based within Familial Cancer Research. Dr Forrest uses mixed methods approaches, with a specialisation in qualitative research, to examine the psychosocial implications of inherited cancer syndromes. Dr Forrest obtained her PhD in 2009 based at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, enrolled through The University of Melbourne. She was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the National Breast Cancer Foundation in 2014 to develop a model of support for young women who are BRCA carriers. Dr Forrest supervises higher degree students and research assistants.
