Dr Jennifer Tan

Gastrointestinal and Breast Cancers

Biography

Dr Jennifer Tan graduated from the University of Melbourne. She is jointly appointed as staff specialist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre since 2010, working collaboratively with Monash Cancer Centre.  She actively participates in multidisciplinary cancer meetings across both hospitals.

Dr Tan has special interests in treating Breast, Gastrointestinal and Sarcoma malignancies.

Her research portfolio includes being a lead investigator for a trial in radiation toxicities after anal cancer treatment. She has published on intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) for rectal cancer, breath-hold techniques for breast cancer and stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) in oligo-metastatic breast cancer.

She is at the forefront of innovative radiotherapy practice. She is involved in IORT for selected early breast cancer patients, a novel targeted treatment in Australia and recruiting to a national audit at Monash University. With strong interest in SABR and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), she leads the Liver SABR service at Monash Cancer Centre.

Dr Tan is committed to patient-centred care using evidence-based medicine to guide clinical decisions.
