Introduction to Allied Health for Oncology

Introduction to Allied Health for Oncology is a comprehensive two day course, developed and run by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology Department.

The course is ideal for Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Allied Health Assistants and Exercise Professionals.

Included content is aimed at recent graduates or those with limited oncology experience. Both days will include case studies outlining management of complex oncology patients in both the inpatient and outpatient / community setting.

Day 1: Introduction to Cancer, Cancer Pain, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Haematology, Cancer Emergencies, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema
Day 2: Exercise, Fatigue, Nutrition, Multidisciplinary Care, End of life Communication and Cancer rehab/prehab. Day two will also feature workshops in the afternoon specific to either Exercise or Comfort care.

Comprehensive course notes along with morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided.
