Pain is quite common for cancer survivors. Pain can be mild or severe and can affect your quality of life. There are many sources of help to manage or control pain.

Clinical services at Peter Mac Melbourne campus 

The following services are available to patients at Peter Mac Melbourne. Please speak with your oncology team if you are being treated elsewhere. You may have different clinical service options. 

  • Pain services: This service provides evidence-based, safe and effective pain management for people living with and beyond cancer.
  • Palliative care services: Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life for patients and their families facing problems associated with life-threatening illness.
  • Physiotherapy services: Physiotherapists and exercise physiologists can help with mobility and physical function. They can help before, during and after cancer treatment.
  • Psychology services: Psychologists use various approaches to help people with cancer and their carers adjust to the challenges of cancer. These challenges can be emotional and psychological.
  • Optimisation clinic: This multidisciplinary outpatient clinic is for cancer survivors with complex needs. Services include a dietitian, psychologist, physiotherapist, and occupational therapist. Speak to your treating team to be referred to this clinic.
  • The Wellbeing Centre: The Wellbeing Centre is on Level 1 of the Peter Mac Melbourne building. It is a gathering place for patients, their families and carers. It offers a variety of programs, services and education opportunities.

Other clinical services in the Parkville precinct 

The following services are available to patients of the Parkville precinct. This precinct includes the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital. Peter Mac are also part of the Parkville precinct. Please speak with your oncology team if you are being treated elsewhere. You may have different clinical service options.
