Pain & Palliative Care Research

The Pain and Palliative Care Research group at Peter Mac is committed to providing evidence-based, cost effective and equitable palliative care services within the continuum of care, from diagnosis onwards, in order to improve supportive and palliative care experiences for patients, and their carers, including their health carers. Our research is closely aligned to clinical care. The group provides extensive education of undergraduate and postgraduate students, patients and their carers. The group is represented on the Palliative Care Research Network of Victoria, and provides leadership in palliative care pain management quality improvement in Victoria.

Research focus

Our research focuses on symptom control, end of life care including Advanced Care Planning and prognostication, and models of integration of palliative and acute care.
