After months of virtual meetings, Peter Mac’s Men’s Support Group have come together in person for the first time.

Due to COVID-19, Peter Mac’s Men’s Support has been meeting in a virtual shed environment but finally met face to face last Tuesday 4 May.

Peter Mac patients and carers were warmly welcomed by members of the Melbourne Men’s Shed at Federation Square. The group spent time getting to know each other over a lunch of wood fire pizzas and salads before starting on the design and construction of what will be Peter Mac’s mobile workbench.

The workbench has been designed to fold down and be easily transported around the hospital to serve as a ‘Pop-up Men’s Shed’ while the group awaits access to a permanent shed.

Peter Mac’s Men’s Shed Support Group continues to welcome new patients, family members, carers and support people to join the group as they complete construction of the workbench. The group are looking forward to seeing their project in use throughout the hospital, from clinic waiting rooms to the outdoor terraces.

Join us at Melbourne Men’s Shed Federation Square EVERY Wednesday

Every week, construction of the workbench will continue at our ‘brother’ shed, the Melbourne Men’s Shed at Federation Square. Melbourne Men’s Shed are kindly opening their doors to all Peter Mac patients, carers, family and friends every Wednesday.
