Professor Michael Friedlander has a unique perspective on ovarian cancer treatment and research gained from 35 years as one of Australia’s leading cancer clinician-researchers. On Thursday, 9 November, Prof Friedlander will give the Penny Taylor Oration – a free community forum held at Peter Mac annually to support awareness and research into ovarian cancer.
Prof Friedlander is conjoint Professor of Medicine at the University of NSW and a medical oncologist at the Royal Hospital for Women and Prince of Wales Hospital.
He’s a former President of the International Society of Gynaecological Oncology and founding Chair of the ANZ Gynaecology Oncology Group (ANZGOG) where he was Research Director until 2016.
Prof Friedlander has published over 350 papers and book chapters and more recently has had a focus on ovarian cancer signal-seeking trials.
The event was established by Wendy Taylor in memory of her daughter Penny - a respected health economist and humanitarian who sadly passed away in 2014, aged 48, as a result of ovarian cancer.
