Peter Mac's new Men’s Support Group will come together virtually this November, giving patients and carers a safe place to connect and share their experiences.

At Peter Mac, we understand how important support networks can be for both your physical and emotional wellbeing. We are committed to providing our patients with more opportunities to connect with others, to feel heard and understood, and to build resilience. Which is why we’re excited to launch our new Men’s Support Groups this November.

Earlier this year, these support groups were to form part of our Men’s Shed program, a collaboration with Melbourne Men’s Shed. However, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and Victoria’s social distancing restrictions, the opening of the Parkville Men’s Shed Facility has been delayed. Until it is safe to open the Men’s Shed and come together in person, Peter Mac will be running these support groups virtually every month.

The support groups aim to bring people together in a safe place and provide an opportunity to:

  • Learn about what's coming up at the Peter Mac Men's Shed,
  • Hear from guest speakers and learn from our experts,
  • Meet and connect with other people going through similar cancer experiences,
  • Share information, experiences and interests, and
  • Seek support or referrals to services and programs if needed.
