With the end of the Victorian Government’s circuit breaker COVID-19 restrictions at 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 February, new rules will be implemented for inpatient visitors at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

From 8am Thursday 18 February, one household will be able to visit a patient once per day.

The government has not imposed specific instructions around the number of people who can visit from a household, or the length of time that the visitors can stay.

Here at Peter Mac, inpatient visitors may attend between the hours of 8am and 8pm daily.

Exceptions may apply for people in palliative care and these will be managed by the relevant Nurse Unit Manager.

Patients attending clinic appointments or day treatments may bring one support person with them to Peter Mac’s Parkville hospital, or to the radiotherapy campuses.

Please note that anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, or who is a close contact of someone suspected of having COVID-19, or returned international travellers are specifically excluded from visiting the hospital.

All patients and visitors will be asked to register at screening points on entry.

We also require all people entering the hospital to wear a mask, practice physical distancing and maintain good hand hygiene.

Please note that we continue to ask everyone to limit their movement around the hospital to what is necessary, when attending appointments or receiving treatment.
