Peter Mac’s Professor Declan Murphy joined Dr Norman Swan on Coronacast on the ABC to talk about the impact Coronavirus is having for cancer patients.
Like Professor Murphy says in the podcast, Peter Mac’s specialist teams are fully staffed and continuing to deliver the best in cancer care to our patients.
We’ve put robust infection prevention measures in place including screening and additional cleaning and there’s also been a massive increase in telehealth video consultations to reduce the amount of people needing to come into the building.
“We’ve gone from seeing less than five per cent of patients through telehealth at the start of March up to about 80 per cent of all our consultations this week” Prof Murphy explains.
“That’s many thousands of consultations being done through telehealth.”
