Artwork
Many patients attend Peter Mac regularly and for lengthy periods, and we believe the quality of the environment is vitally important. Peter Mac has an extensive collection of contemporary Australian art across its five sites that, together with a number of other services, help to improve the overall patient experience.
The artworks, many of which are created by some of Australia’s best known contemporary artists, provide visual interest, stimulate conversation and offer a pleasant diversion for those attending Peter Mac. Works of art displayed at Peter Mac contribute greatly to humanising patient areas, enlivening interiors and creating a more welcoming environment for all.
Donating art
Each of the works in the Peter Mac Art Collection have been generously donated by private collectors, artists, galleries and corporations wishing to help us improve the patient experience through art.
The growing art collection includes paintings, photographs, sculptures, drawings and original prints, displayed and rotated throughout Peter Mac’s five sites.
Peter Mac is a recognised participant in the Australian Government’s Cultural Gifts Program, which encourages gifts of art from private collectors to enhance the collections of public galleries, museums, libraries and hospitals. Gifts made under this program also attract significant tax benefits for donors.
All proposed donations must be discussed with Peter Mac’s Art Curator to ascertain suitability and ensure they fit within our Acquisitions Policy before being considered by an Acquisitions Sub-Committee for approval.
