NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and acknowledge the First Nation’s story that began over 65,000 years ago. This event provides an opportunity to commemorate, honour and reflect on that history.
This year, the theme for NAIDOC Week, “Always Was, Always Will Be” honours the First Nation’s story that began over 65,000 years ago.
At Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, our NAIDOC Week celebration will be held virtually, via Zoom, and will include:
- Welcome to Country to be performed by Elder Aunty Zeta, who will also share her understanding of NAIDOC meaning.
- Launch of the Peter Mac Cultural Safety e-Learning program.
- Launch of Peter Mac’s Engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Patients: A Staff Guide.
- Dance performance by the Djirri Djirri dance company
