Helen Rushford Helen will highlight what elder abuse is and what health professionals might notice in patients experiencing elder abuse. Helen will talk about the Elder Abuse Prevention and Response project and how her role as Liaison Officer can support health professionals to respond to elder abuse.
Lauren Adamson In her presentation, Substitute decision making arrangements – protective measures or instruments of abuse?, Lauren will discuss the important role of guardians and powers of attorney and how decision making is critical in preventing elder abuse. Lauren will talk about her role in leading two national elder abuse prevention projects on behalf of the Australian Guardianship and Administration Council in assisting older Australians to take steps to prevent financial elder abuse through the misuse of enduring documents.
Both Dr Sonia Fullerton and Tegan Murnane will talk from their clinical experience at Peter MacCallum of working with patients experiencing elder abuse.
