Allied Health for oncology education
Introduction to Allied Health for Oncology is a comprehensive two-day course, developed and run by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Exercise Physiology Department.
The course is ideal for:
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Exercise Physiologists
- Allied Health Assistants
- Exercise Professionals
We aim the included content at recent graduates or those with limited oncology experience. Both days will include case studies outlining management of complex oncology patients in both the inpatient and outpatient / community setting.
The course covers the following over the two days:
- Introduction to Cancer, Cancer Pain, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Haematology, Cancer Emergencies, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema
- Exercise, Fatigue, Nutrition, Multidisciplinary Care, End of life Communication and Cancer rehab/prehab. Day two will also feature workshops in the afternoon specific to either Exercise or Comfort care
We will provide comprehensive course notes along with morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.
