Unzipping the Taboo - addressing sexuality and intimacy as part of cancer care webinar

ACSC, in partnership with Cancer Council Victoria, Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) and the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) presented the 'Unzipping the Taboo - addressing sexuality and intimacy as part of cancer care' webinar for nurses and allied health professionals. Facilitated by Dr Amanda Hordern, the webinar included an interactive panel discussion focusing on sexuality and intimacy within the heterosexual and LGBTQI+ populations in the context of cancer care.

Supporting Cancer Survivors to Address Fatigue and Weight Problems: Inspiring, Motivating and Guiding for Change

ACSC, in partnership with Cancer Council Victoria, Clinical Oncology Society of Australia and the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia presented the Supporting Cancer Survivors to Address Fatigue and Weight Problems: Inspiring, Motivating and Guiding for Change webinar on Friday, 10 June 2022.

Facilitated by Prof Ray Chan, the webinar included a survivor’s experience in cancer survivorship and an interactive panel discussion on the topics of nutrition, exercise, motivational interviewing techniques and referral pathways followed by a Q&A session.

Nurses integrating optimal survivorship care

ACSC, in partnership with Cancer Council Victoria, Clinical Oncology Society of Australia and the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia presented the nurses integrating optimal survivorship care: It’s everyone’s business webinar on Tuesday, 12 October 2021. Facilitated by Prof. Ray Chan, the webinar included a combination of presentations followed by a robust panel discussion on current models of care from current experts.

The interactive webinar:

  • Increased awareness and understanding of how survivorship care aligns with different nursing roles
  • Increased awareness in the importance of coordination and communication between nurses and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal survivorship care.
  • Addressed the role of nurses in identifying unmet needs and customising survivorship care, and
  • Increased nurses’ confidence in identifying when and how to initiate discussions about survivorship

Allied health providing cancer survivorship care

ACSC, Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA), Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) and Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) delivered a webinar on the role of allied health in providing cancer survivorship care. This facilitated panel discussion brought together experts to give insight on the context, challenges, and opportunities on cancer survivorship care in rural and regional settings.

The interactive webinar:

  • Explored common unmet needs of regional or rural cancer survivors
  • Assisted allied health professionals to identify and effectively manage these needs through evidence based tools and support
  • Discussed optimal care and communication of healthcare professionals when patients transfer between metropolitan cancer centres and rural and regional areas.

ACSC, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) delivered a webinar on the importance of primary care in follow up for cancer survivors. This webinar covers:

  • Key features of the cancer survivorship experience and the role of primary care
  • Common issues experienced in the survivorship phase and the need for personalised survivorship care
  • Using tools/team care arrangements and coordinated care
  • Evidence-based tools and resources to support specific work with cancer survivors

The important role allied health plays in the care of cancer patients post-treatment – an interactive case review

ACSC, the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) and Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) delivered a webinar on the important role allied health plays in the care of cancer patients post-treatment. This webinar included an interactive case review of Meg Rynderman's OAM story and covered topics such as:

  • Defining cancer survivorship
  • Key features of the cancer survivorship experience
  • Unmet needs, common issues and treatment-related side effects
  • Understanding how cancer treatment side effects may alter allied health screening, intervention and management.
