We share a view that nurses make a major contribution to the health and well-being outcomes of people with cancer and their families. Nurses achieve this through innovative approaches to complex problems and through being prepared to speak up when the needs of a person with cancer, their families or those caring for them are not being met. Our goal is to remove the limits nurses feel constrain them from achieving more and then to back this up with opportunities to strive for excellence.

At Peter Mac the nursing leadership group is committed to fostering an environment where the potential for nurses to lead healthcare improvements can be realized. We do this by encouraging nurses to engage in critique of practice, by providing opportunities for nurses to extend their learning through education, research and practice, and by strengthening the roles of nurses across the organization. These opportunities range from free access to a wide range of short course programs, subsidized access to formal programs in cancer nursing, participation in research and research training, through creative role development , funding to attend and present nursing work at conferences and through mentorship to communicate what we do in publications.

Nurses at Peter Mac are recognized as important contributors to cancer care and regularly are promoted into roles designed to improve the quality of care provided within the organization. Nurses at Peter Mac are part of a dynamic, knowledge thirsty, learning organisation. It is an exciting place to work with innovation, excellence and compassion (our core values) celebrated in all we do and achieve. Why not consider a career in nursing at Peter Mac and help us to ‘make the difference’ in the lives of people affected by cancer.
