About our unit:
                   Bed No: 23 Beds
                   Specialties: Head & Neck and Lung
                   Patient Group: Patients undergoing radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgical interventions and palliative care and                    symptom management for Head & Neck and Lung Malignancies.

A multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to patient care, aiming to provide the best possible outcomes for patients, relatives and staff, is our goal.  We benefit from

  • Full time Nurse Manager
  • Part time Practice Development Nurse for our unit
  • Management team with experience in cancer nursing
  • Excellent multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Team members include: Nurse co-ordinators, social workers, dieticians, occupational therapists, physiotherapist pharmacist and pastoral care.
  • Access to a wealth of oncology expertise and educational resources

Support for Staff:
We encourage and support ongoing professional development through:

  • Competency based education and training related to cancer specific nursing management.
  • Access to short courses through Nursing Education and Research.
  • Unit based support from a dedicated Practice Development Nurse.
  • Access to a Certificate in Cancer and Palliative Care Nursing conducted by PeterMac with credit to Postgraduate Diploma through the University of Melbourne
  • Rotational  placements for Graduate Nurses undertaking the Peter Mac Graduate Year Program
