About our unit:
                   Bed No: 23 Beds
                   Specialties: Haematology malignancies and Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation
                   Patient Group: Acute and chronic leukaemias; Multiple Myeloma; lymphomas (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma                    and Hodgkin's Disease); myeloproliferative and; myelodysplastic disorders.

A team of skilled nurses, including:

  • Clinical Nurse Specialists
  • Haematology Nurse Coordinators
  • Skin Lymphoma Nurse Consultant
  • Practice Development Nurse
  • Masters, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate-prepared specialist cancer nurses

Support for Staff:
Through a supportive learning environment we encourage staff to develop both clinically and professionally.
The Ward 2 Practice Development Nurse is able to work directly with staff to meet the challenges of working in this dynamic cancer speciality by:

  • Developing core haematology nursing knowledge and skills
  • Preparing for the role of buddy for new staff
  • Preparing for presentations at ward, hospital and conference level

Opportunities exist for participation in specialist haematology education programs, a collaborative nurse led monthly haematology forum, and attendance at national and international conferences.
