A key strength for Peter Mac is the invaluable support received from
the community. Wonderful people from the community at large, individuals,
companies, fundraising support groups, patients and their families
support Peter Mac. We value the partnership we have with all those
people with a spirit of generosity and commitment who understand that,
without this help, Peter Mac could not support the continued upgrading
in our facilities, technology and leading edge research. Each group
has a contribution to make; each group and individual is greatly valued.

How
you can support Cancer Research and help Peter Mac provide the best
in patient care. |
|
| |
Peter
Mac is the only specialist cancer hospital in Australia. Our strengths
are our patient-focused care, our dedication to research and our commitment
to training specialist health professionals. Today, thanks to the
efforts of such institutions as Peter Mac, more than half of those
diagnosed with cancer will have their disease brought under control,
and many will be cured. This significant progress is due to the dedication
of thousands of people - physicians and nurses who care for patients,
researchers who explore the causes of cancer, and volunteers and benefactors
who contribute so that others can hope for recovery. Through charitable
giving, friends of Peter Mac can become partners in the effort to
reach our goal: the progressive control and ultimate cure of cancer.
Sir Peter MacCallum believed that nothing but the best is good enough
in the treatment of cancer. We continue to strive to maintain his
dream.

Types
of Giving |
|
| |
Peter
Mac relies on the generosity of the community in order to maintain
its high standards. There are a number of ways in which you can provide
support for Peter Mac's progress toward better understanding and treating
cancer.

Donations |
|
| |
Many
Donors choose to support Peter Mac by making cash gifts. This method
of giving can have immediate impact. All donations over $2 to the
Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre are tax-deductible. All donations are
acknowledged by letter and a receipt, and those of $1,000 and over
are listed in the Annual Report. There may be other suitable ways
to acknowledge your generosity, which we will be pleased to discuss
with you.
Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable because they provide
the flexibility needed to move quickly in unexpected directions in
research and to swiftly pursue promising clinical applications. Unrestricted
funds also provide the resources to cover the costs of those critical
services of the Centre that are not entirely financed by other support.
Restricted gifts benefit specific programs of the donor's choosing.
Funds may be designated for any of the Centre's initiatives in patient
care, research and education that may be of personal interest. We
will be pleased to honour a request that your donation be applied
to a particular area of research or piece of equipment, or be used
to support our mission to provide quality treatment and support to
patients and their families.

Peter Mac Cancer History Makers |
|
|
At Peter Mac we are conscious of keeping our expenses to a minimum and reducing the amount of correspondence we send to our supporters. Therefore, we have introduced a new way of supporting Peter Mac – our direct debit donors scheme “Peter Mac Cancer History Makers”.
By becoming a pledge donor and by donating to Peter Mac via direct debit, you will be helping us reduce our costs as well as helping to increase the amounts to be spent on research and patient care. You can choose the frequency of your donation – either monthly, quarterly or annually – and you can also choose if you want the direct debit to come from your credit card or a nominated bank account.
All donations are tax deductible, and we will send a receipt to you on 15 June each year, detailing your annual donations for taxation purposes.
Become a Peter Mac Cancer History Maker now by downloading the Direct Debit Request form or click here to make a secure online Direct Debit.

Bequests |
|
| |
|
Many people, having made provision for their families, decide to support their favourite charities by leaving a bequest in their Will. Donors can leave a percentage of their estate or a fixed dollar amount. Another option is to name Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre a residuary beneficiary, leaving the Centre what remains after specific bequests to loved ones are paid. Bequests may provide an unrestricted gift to be used where most needed, or be designated for a specific purpose.
Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre has produced a Guide to Wills and Bequests. This useful booklet includes easy-to-understand information about including a bequest to the Peter Mac in your Will. It also includes general information about Wills and estate issues. |

Memorial Donations |
|
|
An alternative to flowers at a funeral of a loved one is a memorial donation.
Family and friends can make a donation in lieu of flowers at the funerals of those close to them. For those who have supported cancer patients, it is a direct way of helping us to continually improve patient care and contributing to the search for a cure of cancer.
Envelopes for this purpose are available form the Community Relations and Fundraising Department. Please call 03 9656 1124 to arrange for these envelopes to be delivered prior to the funeral.
