| The Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre is a partnership between Western Health and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Officially opened in March 2011, the centre provides public radiation therapy services to the people of Melbourne’s western suburbs. It includes a state-of-the-art radiation planning system and two linear accelerators, which deliver treatment to patients with a range of cancers. The partnership dovetails Peter Mac’s cancer expertise with Western Health’s standing as of one Melbourne’s major health services. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Getting to Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre is located at Sunshine Hospital, 176 Furlong Road, St Albans. The Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre is located close to public transport. If you are travelling by train the nearest station is Ginifer Railway Station on the Sydenham line. The station is a 10 minute walk from the centre. Buses also regularly travel past the hospital. | The centre is open between 8.00 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Friday. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Car parking is available at Sunshine Hospital for an hourly fee. Short-term parking (10 minutes) is located at the front of the centre and also near the front entrance to the main hospital. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Transport assistance | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Transport services are limited and may not always be available upon request. If you are unable to attend radiation therapy treatment appointments without transport assistance, please advise your clinician at your first appointment. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Visitors are very welcome at Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre and we encourage patients to bring a family member or supporter with them to appointments. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A cafeteria and a kiosk are located on the ground floor of the Sunshine Hospital. Free tea and coffee making facilities are available in the Sunshine Hospital Radiation Therapy Centre. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| In the interests of your health and the health of others, smoking is not permitted in the centre or the Sunshine Hospital. This applies to hospital visitors, staff and patients, in buildings and grounds. Peter Mac is committed to helping those who smoke to quit and provides access to counselling and free quitting medication for patients. To continually improve our service and to meet the needs of our patients, you will be asked about your smoking status when you register as a patient. Please discuss your quitting needs with your health care professional. You can be referred to Peter Mac’s Quit Support Counsellor. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
