NHMRC '10 of the Best' Awards

NHMRC '10 of the Best' Awards - Research at Peter Mac

The research achievements of Peter Mac's Assoc Professor David Thomas and Assoc Professor Roger Martin have both been featured in the new '10 of the Best Research Projects 2009'. This booklet was launched by the NHMRC in Canberra on Monday 17 August by the Parliamentary Secretary for Health the Hon Mark Butler MP, as part of CSIRO's National Science Week activities.

The book and accompanying series of podcasts aim to encourage the next generation of health and medical researchers. High school students participated in the launch in a speed science activity with 10 of the Best researchers to learn from the experts the passion creativity and persistence needed to be a world-class leader in this field.

The '
10 of the Best' booklet is designed to promote the excellence and innovation of Australian health and medical research, and reveal some of the challenges, rewards and potential for effecting real change that comes from working in this important direction of science.

The projects featured in this publication were selected from the 8000 vital medical research projects underway in Australia today.

It is an impressive achievement by both David and Roger to be featured in this book and we congratulate them on this acknowledgement of their research achievements.
