Laboratory Research

Laboratory Research - Research at Peter Mac

The Research Laboratories at Peter Mac are home to over 400 scientists and support staff working in a strong and collegiate environment, sophisticated resources and facilities that fosters innovative and collaborative research.

Our researchers work in 27 research laboratories within six key research programs, underpinned by an extensive infrastructure of core facilities. A strong, vibrant culture of collegiate collaboration within these laboratories has contributed to our leadership in cancer research. The physical location of our laboratories next to specialised cancer clinics facilitates a dynamic interplay; research informs improved treatments and observations made in the clinic guide our research agenda.

Our most recent research program was established in 2010; researchers in the Tumour Angiogenesis Program, led by Assoc. Prof. Marc Achen and Assoc. Prof. Steven Stacker, are working toward determining the molecular mechanisms that regulate the formation of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels during normal development and tumourigenesis.
