There is no fee for requesting access to your information, however, we may charge you the reasonable administrative costs of processing your request. Patient Privacy In order to provide the highest standard of care, Peter Mac collects and maintains personal information about its patients, together with information about their health problems and medical treatment. Patient privacy is important to Peter Mac, and Peter Mac has strict policies in place to protect the privacy of patient information, which meet the requirements of applicable legislation, including the Health Privacy Principles set out in the Health Records Act 2001. On registration, all new patients are provided with our brochure “What happens to information about me?” which explains why and how patient information is collected, used and disclosed. Wherever possible, Peter Mac will provide patients with choices about how their information is used and to whom it is disclosed. Confidentiality of health information is assured. Paper records and information in electronic form are stored in a secure manner and may only be accessed by authorised personnel. Access to a patient’s medical records is provided in accordance with the provisions of the Victorian Freedom of Information Act 1982.
