| Day Surgery Unit |
| Day Surgery Unit is located on level 1 in the Tower Building. |
| Operating Theatre |
| Operating suite is located on level 1, next to the Day Surgery Unit. Most people who are having surgical procedures will be admitted to the Day Surgery Unit on the day of the surgery. When you arrive at Peter Mac, go the the Admissions and Registration office on the ground floor where the clerk will register your details and give you some forms to take to Day Surgery Unit. Your anaesthetist will visit you before your procedure to discuss your health and carry out any relevant examination. Please ensure you discuss any concerns you might still have at this stage. |

| General Anaestheisia |
| In general anaesthesia consciousness is lost and you go to "sleep". |
| Local and Regional Anaesthesia |
| In local anaesthesia only a part of the body is made numb eg. your arm or leg or abdomen. This is called regional anaesthesia. |
