Blood Bank
|
The Blood Bank provides a full 24 hour 7 day blood product transfusion service. For appropriate Blood Transfusion practices, NHMRC guidelines should be consulted.

Emergency Blood Product
|
Including O Negative Red Blood Cells are available from the Blood Bank however communication between clinical staff and Blood Bank on 9656 1533, is absolutely mandatory for these products. At no time should uncross-match blood be used unless fully clinically justified.

Bone Marrow Biopsies
|
These procedures MUST be booked in advance on 9656 1313. Same day bookings to go through Haematology Laboratory Registrar 9656 3534.

Biochemistry
|
A comprehensive range of clinical biochemistry testing is available.
|
Cytology
|
An on-site cytology service is provided at Peter Mac. Specimens should be delivered to the Pathology laboratory immediately after collection. Fine Needle Aspirates can be booked with the laboratory by calling 9656 1431.

Diagnostic Molecular Pathology
|
The diagnostic molecular pathology laboratory consists of two areas, which focus on mutation detection and molecular haematology.

Haematology
|
A comprehensive diagnostic haematology laboratory service is provided at Peter Mac including FBE analysis, coagulation testing, bone marrow analysis and flow cytometry testing.
|
Histology
|
An on-site histology service is provided at Peter Mac. Specimens should be delivered to the Pathology laboratory immediately after collection. Frozen Sections can be booked with the laboratory by calling ext 1464 and external pathology reviews organised through on 9656 3578 or 9656 5844.

Microbiology
|
Microbiology testing is not routinely performed at Peter Mac. Specimens are referred to Box Hill Pathology (Tel: 9895 3475) and VIDRL (Tel: 9342 2661) for testing.
