Melanoma & Skin Cancer Service

Melanoma & Skin Cancer Service - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

The Melanoma & Skin Service at Peter Mac, treated more than 500 new melanoma cases over the past year of the 2,000 diagnosed in Victoria.

The Melanoma and Skin Cancer Service is unique in offering patients access to simultaneous, multi-specialist opinion and management of cancers that are complicated, advanced, recurrent, metastatic and, rare presentations of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

The Peter MacCallum Melanoma and Skin Cancer Service utilises a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of its patients. This approach is based on the principle that clinicians provide the best quality cancer care when they are members of a multidisciplinary cancer centre, meeting regularly as a team to discuss the most appropriate management of each individual patient.

The Service is staffed by a team of dedicated clinicians:

  • Including dermatologists
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgeons
  • Surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists
  • Medical oncologists.

The Service continued its association with the Skin and Cancer Foundation, running a conjoint clinic for the assessment of new skin cancers.
