Education & Training

Education & Training - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Peter Mac's commitment to learning has led to our reputation as a world class teaching centre. We attract the best recruits and students come from around the world to learn new treatment protocols that have been developed or undertaken for the first time by Peter Mac.

Peter Mac is an active learning organisation where staff are committed to a knowledge
environment. A major part of education, training and development involves providing support
for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the classroom, and clinical learning opportunities
across most departments.

Through affiliation with universities and other registered training organisations, Peter Mac continues to expand its involvement in programs that prepare staff for local workplace responsibilities.

Elective medical rotations for students
Peter Mac offers elective rotations for medical students via the St Vincent’s Clinical School at The University of Melbourne.

Four week rotations run annually and are available in the divisions of Cancer Surgery, Cancer Medicine and Radiation Oncology and Cancer Imaging, and Cancer Research as well as the Haematology Service.

While rotations are coordinated by the Electives Coordinator at St Vincent’s Hospital Clinical School, students seeking further information or wishing to inquire for an elective rotation should email the Peter Mac contact working in their area of interest.

An administration fee of $440 applies to successful applications.
