Dental Oncology

Dental Oncology - Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Peter Mac has a dedicated dental oncology unit, principally associated with the needs of the patients undergoing treatment in the Head & Neck, Haematology and Skin units.

Dental Oncology is staffed by part time registered dental specialists, and provides the following services:

Assessment of the oral cavity and teeth prior to radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Preparation of the oral cavity prior to radiotherapy.
Diagnostic assessment of intra-oral lesions eg biopsies.
Preparation of complex intra and extra-oral devices to aid radiotherapy treatment.
Management of the oral cavity and associated structures during and following radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Preparation of prostheses required as a result of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy of the head and neck region.

Please note: there are no General Dental services available.
